Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chuck
  • 3/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • cooking spray
  • 1 package Hawaiian Sweet Dinner Rolls (such as King’s Hawaiian)
  • 1/3 c Big Mac Sauce (recipe below)
  • 6 American cheese slices
  • 2/3 c drained pickle chips
  • 1/3 c finely chopped yellow onion
  • 2 Tbsp (1 ounce) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 c packed shredded iceberg lettuce (from 1 small [1 pound] head)
  • 1/2 c mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 1/4 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt

Method

  1. 1

Whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet pickle relish, 1/4 Tbsp garlic powder, and 1/4 tsp kosher salt in a small bowl until fully combined to make the Big Mac Sauce.

  2. 2

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large-rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil.

  3. 3

Press ground chuck into a thin, even 11- x 9-inch rectangle on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle evenly with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  4. 4

Bake in preheated oven until a thermometer inserted into the thickest portion of beef registers 140°F to 145°F, about 10 minutes. Using 2 large spatulas, transfer beef to a cutting board lined with paper towels; discard foil.

  5. 5

Line the same baking sheet with a new piece of foil and lightly coat with cooking spray.

  6. 6

Using a serrated bread knife, cut rolls in half horizontally, keeping top halves and bottom halves intact. Place the bottom half of rolls cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.

  7. 7

Spread Big Mac Sauce evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.

  8. 8

Place the beef patty over the sauce, and top evenly with cheese slices, pickles, and onion.

  9. 9

Place the top half of rolls over the pickles and onions. Brush tops and sides of rolls with melted butter, and sprinkle evenly with sesame seeds.

  10. 10

Bake in preheated oven until top buns are golden brown and cheese is melted, about 10 minutes.

  11. 11

Carefully remove bun tops, sprinkle lettuce in an even layer, and replace bun tops.

  12. 12

Cut sliders into 12 portions; serve with additional Big Mac Sauce.
