Homemade Ranch Dressing

Classic homemade ranch dressing made from scratch with fresh herbs, seasonings, sour cream, buttermilk, and homemade mayonnaise.

Ingredients

  • 2 egg yolks (room temp)
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp lemon juice or vinegar
  • 2 cups neutral oil
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup homemade mayo
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup buttermilk (adjust to thin)
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp MSG (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2-4 tsp lemon juice

Method

    In a bowl or using an immersion blender, whisk the egg yolks, mustard, and lemon juice until smooth.

    Slowly drizzle in the oil while whisking constantly until thick and emulsified.

    Season mayonnaise with salt.

    Whisk mayo, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth.

    Stir in the chopped herbs and seasonings, whisking to combine.

    Adjust consistency with additional buttermilk and balance flavor with lemon juice.

    Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
