In-N-Out Burger

A homemade take on the classic In-N-Out burger featuring mustard-cooked beef patties, grilled onions, and signature spread.

Ingredients

  • 24 oz ground chuck (80/20), into 3 oz patties
  • Salt & peppers
  • 1 tsp mustard each patty
  • 1 large white onion, diced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup Mayo
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp sweet relish
  • 1 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp white distilled vinegar
  • Bun
  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • cheese

Method

    In a small bowl, whisk together the mayo, ketchup, sweet relish, sugar, and white distilled vinegar to make the spread; set aside.

    Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the diced white onion until softened and caramelized.

    Season the beef patties with salt and pepper.

    Spread 1 teaspoon of mustard onto one side of each patty, then cook patties in a hot skillet, mustard-side down first, cooking to desired doneness and melting cheese on top.

    Toast the burger buns and assemble by layering the spread, lettuce, tomato, cheeseburger patties, and caramelized onions.
